This Privacy Policy explains how MyTeddyTale, trading as MyTeddyTale collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit our website, place an order, upload a photo, or contact us.
Our website is: myteddytale.com
Contact email: hello@myteddytale.com
MyTeddyTale creates personalised printable story PDFs for children. Customers provide details such as a child’s name, age, favourite teddy, toy or pet, story preferences, and an uploaded photo. We use this information to generate a personalised story and a black-and-white colouring-style cover illustration, which is then sent to the customer by email.
Orders must be placed by an adult parent, guardian or responsible purchaser.
When you place an order or use our website, we may collect the following information:

We do not sell children’s personal information or uploaded photos.
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following lawful bases:
We use your order details, personalisation information and uploaded photo to create and deliver the product you purchased.
We may use limited information to run, improve and protect our business, provided this does not override your privacy rights.
We may keep certain order and transaction records where required for tax, accounting or legal purposes.
Where required, we may ask for your consent, for example for optional marketing emails or non-essential cookies.
Our product is made for children, but orders should be placed by an adult.
Because stories may include a child’s first name, age and uploaded photo, we treat this information carefully. We only use this information to create and deliver the personalised product, provide support, and manage the order.
Customers should only upload photos and details they are authorised to provide.
We use AI-assisted tools to help create the personalised story and black-and-white cover illustration.
Information provided for your order, including story details and uploaded images, may be processed by AI service providers for the purpose of generating your personalised product.
We currently use OpenAI API services to help generate story content and images. OpenAI states that, by default, data sent to its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the customer explicitly opts in to share data.
We use trusted service providers to run our website and deliver orders. These may include:
Shopify — website, checkout and order processing
Uploadery / ShopPad — photo upload handling
Payment providers — payment processing
Zapier — automation between order, AI, PDF and email steps
OpenAI — AI-assisted story and image generation
PDFShift — PDF creation
Google Drive — storing and sharing generated PDF files
Gmail / Google Workspace — sending order emails
Analytics, cookie or marketing tools, where used
These providers only receive the information needed to perform their services.
We may also share information if required by law, regulation, legal process, fraud prevention or to protect our rights.
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK or the European Economic Area.
Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy regulations, standard contractual clauses, data processing agreements or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
We only keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary.
As a guide:
Order and transaction records may be kept for up to 6 years for tax and accounting purposes.
Uploaded photos and generated story files are kept only for as long as needed to create, deliver, support and troubleshoot the order, unless a longer period is required by law.
We aim to delete uploaded photos and generated files after [30 / 60 / 90] days, unless we need them for customer support, fraud prevention, legal reasons or you ask us to delete them sooner.
Customer support messages may be kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and maintain business records.
You can contact us to request deletion of uploaded photos or generated files.
We will only send marketing emails if you have opted in or where we are otherwise allowed by law.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
We will still send service emails about your order, even if you unsubscribe from marketing.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we will ask for consent for non-essential cookies.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including using trusted service providers, account security, access controls and secure systems.

You can also ask us to delete uploaded photos or generated files, subject to any legal or business record requirements.
